What we collect
GiftRadar collects the minimum data needed to provide the service:
- Occasions and recipients — the people, dates, budgets, and context you enter. These are stored to generate suggestions and keep your gift plans organised.
- Gift ideas — suggestions you save, ideas you add manually, and their status (ordered, shipped, etc.).
- Email address — if you sign in to save your data. We use magic links, so we never store a password.
- Feedback — your thumbs up/down ratings on suggestions to improve recommendation quality.
- Analytics events — anonymous usage data (page views, occasion creation, button clicks) to understand how the product is used.

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers.
AI processing
Your occasion details and recipient context are sent to a third-party AI provider (currently OpenAI) to generate gift suggestions. Only the occasion constraints and recipient profile are included — not your email address or personal identity.
Cookies and analytics
We use a session cookie (HTTP-only) to keep you signed in. This is essential and does not require consent.
With your consent, we use PostHog for analytics — tracking anonymous usage events like page views, occasion creation, and button clicks. PostHog cookies are only set after you click “Accept” on the consent banner. You can change your preference at any time by clearing your browser data or contacting us.
We do not use third-party advertising cookies or trackers.
Data retention
Occasion records, gift ideas, and recipient profiles are retained while your account is active. You can request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.
